Gregory Jones, 39, head of human resources at South Wales Police, allegedly raped the woman on the settee at her friend's home. Swansea Crown Court heard he told officers who arrested him that the woman had consented to "vigorous sex". Mr Jones, of Sketty, Swansea, denies three charges of rape and one of assault causing actual bodily harm. The court heard that Mr Jones, who has been head of personnel at South Wales Police since 2003, asked the woman "Am I good?" before forcing her to perform a sex act on him. Dafydd Thomas, prosecuting, said after the ordeal he tried to persuade her to give him her telephone number. 'Harmless fun' Mr Thomas said: "Not surprisingly his request was declined." Doctors found bruising on 24 different areas of her body, said Mr Thomas. The prosecutor told Swansea Crown Court how the woman, in her early 20s, and her friend were "out on the town" on 2 September last year when they met Mr Jones late in the evening. Mr Thomas said the woman kissed him inside the Lava Lounge pub "but made it clear that that was all it was, some harmless fun". Mr Jones, the woman, her friend and her friend's boyfriend shared a taxi back to the friend's home. Her friend and her boyfriend went upstairs, having thrown a duvet onto a settee downstairs in case Jones and the woman wanted "to get together", the court heard. She ran into the bathroom but he followed her asking for 'just a bit more' Prosecutor Dafydd Thomas Mr Thomas said she made it clear she was not interested in sex, but as she sipped a coffee in the kitchen Jones kissed her on the neck and then became aggressive. He said: "He pulled her into the lounge, spun her around and threw her onto the settee, saying 'I know you want it.' "Afterwards she ran into the bathroom but he followed her asking for 'just a bit more.'" Mr Jones pulled her back into the lounge before raping her twice more, the court heard. After forcing himself on her she fled to the bathroom once again and began crying. Mr Thomas said as soon as the woman got home her partner noticed something was wrong, but she could not tell him what had happened. He became so concerned he contacted her sister and slowly she revealed she had been raped. Mr Thomas said her injuries were consistent with the account she gave and not the account Mr Jones gave of events. The trial continues. |
