A policewoman has died in a head-on collision while driving home after working a night shift.

Pc Stacey Pyke, 20, was based at Spalding, Lincolnshire, and was on her way home to Yaxley, Cambridgeshire.

The officer's Renault Megane collided with a Citroen Picasso on the A15 at Deeping Gate, Cambs early on Monday.

The Citroen driver, a 33-year-old man from Peterborough, was seriously injured and his 52-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Peter Leng, one of Pc Pyke's training team, said: "It was her dream to join the police service and she couldn't believe that her dream had come true.

"She was a very bubbly and popular officer. Very enthusiastic and conscientious."
