Meryl Streep's role in fashion satire The Devil Wears Prada has earned her the award for best actress in a comedy or musical film at the Golden Globes. TV drama Elizabeth I has won three awards at the Golden Globes in Hollywood, including best mini-series.

"It was a film we made just to make a film, not to be a big, internationally-successful film," she told BBC News.
"It was a small film, nonetheless powerful and important, but the thinking behind it was really that."
Briton Stephen Frears is shortlisted as best director for the film, while writer Peter Morgan has a best screenplay nomination.

Dame Judi is shortlisted for her appearance in Notes on a Scandal, alongside Winslet for Little Children.

The event also honours achievement in television, with 24, Big Love, Grey's Anatomy, Heroes and Lost nominated for best drama series.
