Craig Johnson, 35, from Stone, was jailed for his part in a multi-million pound VAT fraud and told to repay £26m to the government. Meaford Hall, his stately home with 22-acres of grounds, will be auctioned along with several cars, a motorbike and number plates next month. The auction, by SHM Smith Hodgkinson, is by appointment only on 23 June. Other assets include a helicopter, two Bentleys and an Aston Martin, a yacht, Rolex watches and diamonds. Johnson was one of 21 people to be jailed last year in connection with a £138m fraud and is serving 12-and-a-half years. |
