The 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the disturbance in Forge Street and was pronounced dead on arrival at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
A 28-year-old man was also injured taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. His condition was described as serious but stable.
Detectives said there would appear to have been about 15 people involved in the disturbance.
