Two brothers accused of attempting to murder two young boys near Doncaster have been committed to the crown court.

The pair, aged 10 and 11, are accused of attacking and robbing a nine-year-old boy and his 11-year-old uncle in Edlington, South Yorkshire, on 4 April.

The pair appeared at Doncaster Youth Court earlier where they faced two new serious charges.

The case was committed to Sheffield Crown Court on 15 June. The boys were remanded into local authority care.

Police were alerted after the nine-year-old was found wandering the streets, covered in blood, in the former pit village.

He told officers where to find his uncle, who was discovered unconscious in a nearby wooded ravine.

The two accused brothers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, each face the same four charges in addition to the two new charges.

These are that they attempted to murder the two boys, who also cannot be named, in Doncaster on 4 April and that they robbed each of the youngsters on the same date.

According to the robbery charges, the brothers are accused of taking a mobile telephone from the younger boy and £5 from the older boy.
