In a statement a spokeswoman for NSW Health said: “Staff were furloughed because they’ve been a close contact with a Covid-19 case and are not necessarily ill or presenting symptoms when they’re placed into isolation”.“Since the start of the pandemic, NSW Health has engaged in forward planning with clinicians to ensure our hospitals have capacity to care for Covid-19 patients whoneed to be hospitalised,” she said.“NSW’s healthcare system is fully integrated and staff can be deployed to different parts of the health system as needed due to patient demand, workforce supply challenges and the hospital’s capacity to surge. In a statement, a spokeswoman for NSW Health said:
