Version 0 of 1.

A man who accused the former chairman of Humberside Police Authority of child sex abuse has been arrested for allegedly assaulting the politician.

The 35-year-old was arrested at his Hull home on Tuesday and charged with assaulting Colin Inglis on 4 September.

The alleged offence took place at the Holiday Inn hotel in Hull Marina.

In July, Mr Inglis - who is also the ex-leader of Hull City Council - was cleared of indecently assaulting a boy at a Hull children's home in the 1980s.

On Wednesday, a Humberside Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that a 35-year-old Hull man has been charged with common assault and released on police bail."

He is due to appear before Hull magistrates next Tuesday.
