Version 0 of 1.

A one-year-old cat has had a leg amputated after being shot in Norfolk.

Milo is thought to have been blasted from the front at close range with a shotgun, causing serious injuries to his front left leg.

He managed to limp back to his home in Ormesby, Great Yarmouth. His owner Pauline Dixon took him to a vet, who amputated the damaged limb.

An RSPCA spokesman said shotgun and airgun attacks on animals were "all too common".

RSPCA inspector Ben Kirby said: "We believe Milo may have been shot in his chest at quite close range and it is lucky that he managed to get himself home.

Words cannot express what I think of the person who did this Pauline Dixon, Milo's owner

"It is extremely worrying to think that anyone believes it is somehow acceptable to target an animal and then leave it to suffer in this way."

Mrs Dixon said: "This has been so traumatic, not only for Milo, but for our family.

"Words cannot express what I think of the person who did this and I hope someone knows who was behind the attack and comes forward."

Anyone with information about the attack, which took place between Tuesday 26 May and Thursday 28 May, is urged to contact the RSPCA.
