Fire crews tackle blaze at flats

They were alerted to the flames at the three-storey Barnes Wallis Court block in Barne Hill Road, Wembley, shortly after 0700 BST. The building was reportedly struck by lightning as storms swept over the city but London Fire Brigade has yet to confirm the cause of the fire. No-one was seriously hurt and residents were evacuated to a nearby church. One fifth of the building's roof caught alight and at its height 15 fire engines tackled the blaze.
