A collection of exotic but illegal souvenirs is being put on display by customs officials to warn holidaymakers what they can and cannot bring home. A turtle shell, snake skins, ivory jewellery and even a bear's head are among items seized by customs. They are being put on display at the Holiday World exhibition at King's Hall in Belfast over the next three days. All aspects of travel at home and abroad will be covered by hundreds of exhibitors at the show. HMRC Head of Detection in Northern Ireland Maggie Eyden said it was important for holidaymakers to know what they are allowed to bring home. "We want to ensure that holidaymakers do not waste their money on souvenirs that may be taken off them when they get back home, so think before you buy," she said. |
