Race car crashes into spectators Five injured in rally car crash

Five people were hurt, two with life-threatening injuries, when a racing car left a circuit in Oxfordshire and collided with spectators. Five people were hurt when a rally car left a circuit in Oxfordshire and hit two marshals and a photographer.
The car careered off Abingdon race track at about 0930 BST. The two most badly injured spectators were airlifted to hospital. The car careered off Abingdon race track at about 0930 BST during the Abingdon Motor Sports Carnival.
Two other spectators were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries. An 18-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, while two other men, aged 22 and 60, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver was treated at the scene and later released. The driver and his co-driver were treated for shock and are now helping police with their inquiries.
Officers are investigating the incident with the Health and Safety Executive and the British Motorsport Association.
The 18-year-old man is from Camberley, Surrey, and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
The 22-year-old man is from High Wycombe and was taken to the same hospital.
The 60-year-old man is from Hampshire was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he is described as being "poorly".
