Version 0 of 1.

An all-Ireland sex offenders register should be established by the British and Irish Governments, a House of Common committee has said.

The influential Northern Ireland Affairs Committee wants legislation changed so that more people can be tried on either side of the border.

The committee had been examining cross-border co-operation.

MPs said the relationship between NI and the Republic "had never been closer" regarding policing and justice.

They would also like the law to be changed so that those who are involved in human trafficking, money laundering and fraud could be tried on either side of the border.

The group also said the PSNI must continue to be fully funded to meet the continuing dissident threat.

MPs also want a review of sentencing policy to address perceptions that organised criminals are not receiving strong enough punishment.
