Two rescued from blaze at flats

A man and a woman have been rescued from a fire at a block of flats in Ballymena.

Police believe the blaze in the Wayside Green area of the County Antrim town was started deliberately.

The fire was lit in a communal hallway at the entrance to the flats and was discovered at 0630 BST on Saturday.

The two people who were led to safety suffered the effects of breathing in smoke. Police have appealed for information.
