Teenager critical after incident Crash teenager 'responding well'
(1 day later)
A teenage girl is in a critical condition in hospital after an incident in Kirkcudbright. A teenage girl is said to be responding well to treatment after being struck by a car in the south of Scotland.
The 17-year-old girl, who is a Polish national, was found with a serious head injury in Mews Lane, near McMurray's Garage, on Saturday night. Investigations are continuing into the incident on Saturday night at Mews Lane in Kirkcudbright in which the 17-year-old suffered head injuries.
Police investigating the incident said they thought she was involved in a collision with a dark-coloured car, possibly a Ford Mondeo. The girl, who is understood to be Polish, is being treated in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh where her condition is described as "serious".
Police said they were questioning a man in connection with the incident. Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
The girl was found lying in the Kirkcudbright street at about 2200 BST on Saturday.
The area was sealed off and police later removed a car from the scene.
The vehicle was taken to force headquarters at Dumfries for further examination.
A man - also thought to be Polish - was detained and questioned in connection with the incident.
Police have continued their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
