Speaking after the case, the chief investigating officer Det Insp Matt Davey said: "Our first thoughts are with the victim and her family and we hope that today's result will help to give them some peace of mind.
"This was a despicable attack.
"The court today has demonstrated the gravity of this offence and the commitment of the justice system to remove sex offenders from the community."
Alcock will be sentenced at Swindon on 21 August.
