Version 0 of 1.

Police have been called in to probe the finances of an Aberdeen City councillor amid allegations of irregularity.

Deputy leader of the Liberal Democrat group, Scott Cassie, faces questions from Grampian Police on the issue.

Group leader John Stewart told BBC Scotland that the serious nature of the allegations meant he had also started procedures to suspend Mr Cassie.

Grampian Police confirmed the council has been in touch but said they could make no further comment.

Mr Cassie, the authority's planning convener, has been a councillor for more than 10 years and was elected as deputy leader of the Lib Dems on Monday.

He represents Airyhall, Broomhill and Garthdee.
