A crane has collapsed on to a block of flats in Liverpool city centre, forcing the evacuation of the building. A crane moving a five-tonne weight has collapsed on to a block of flats in Liverpool city centre.
Eight fire crews and a search and rescue unit were called to the scene on Tabley Street just after midday, Merseyside Fire Service said. The crane driver was rescued from the roof of the building at Tabley Street and taken to hospital where he is said to be in a "stable" condition.
