A janitor who set his own school on fire, causing £350,000 worth of damage to the building, has been jailed for two years. David Russell, from Inverness, set a quantity of cardboard boxes ablaze on the stage at Inverness High School on 8 October last year. The 27-year-old admitted a charge of wilful fireraising. Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the fire spread throughout the assembly hall. At one point, six fire appliances and more than 30 firefighters were involved in tackling the incident. The blaze closed the building prior to the October break. |
