Mohammed Junaid Khan, 21, known as Junaid, was shot with an automatic weapon in a car park in Block Lane, Chadderton, on Thursday. It was the second fatal shooting in Greater Manchester in less than a week. Police have said they have "no evidence" to link it to the killing of Nasar Hussain, 30, at Brookhouse Supermarket in Salford on Saturday. Extra officers, some of them armed, are on the streets of Oldham following Mr Khan's killing. Officers say they are now keen to speak to his friends to uncover a motive for his murder. Nasar Hussain had lived in Salford for six months Mr Khan, of Cotton Mill Crescent, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Det Supt Julian Ross, who is leading the investigation, said: "Junaid was gunned down in a horrific attack and it is vital that we work with the community to find the people responsible. "I know a number of people went down to the car park following the shooting and I would urge them to speak to police if they haven't done already. "We know there has been speculation that this murder is linked to the shooting in Salford at the weekend. That is obviously a line of inquiry but at this stage no evidence of a link has been uncovered." Police investigating Mr Hussain's murder have arrested 13 people. One remains in custody and the other 12 have been released on bail. |
