Version 0 of 1.

Former EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney has been banned from driving for six months after being clocked speeding at 115mph in foggy conditions on the M6.

Gaffney, 31, of Bookham, Surrey, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving without due care and attention at Stoke on Trent Magistrates' Court.

The court was told he drove his Audi TT at 115mph near Junction 14 of the M6 motorway in November in Staffordshire.

His solicitor said his client accepted he "made an error of judgment".

'Respect and humility'

Tim Boswell said Gaffney did not deny he was travelling in excess of 100mph but thought the 115mph figure was not accurate.

In mitigation, he said: "Mr Gaffney comes to court accepting that he has made an error of judgment and he has let his speed get far too high.

"He comes to this court with the sense of respect and humility.

"He is not some celebrity who thinks he is above the law."

Mr Boswell said a ban would have a huge impact on Gaffney, who lives in Surrey with his wife and 13-year-old twin daughters, because he might get a job in the summer in a touring play and need a car.

Mr Gaffney was also fined £160 and ordered to pay £315 costs.
