Meanwhile, four of the British pupils under quarantine have told the BBC from their hotel room they are being well looked after. One of the four who caught the virus was Matthew Barnett, who told the BBC from his hospital room that he was feeling "OK".
While the other three were found to have high temperatures when they arrived at Beijing airport earlier in the week, Matthew fell ill later.
"I was at the hotel because they have routine temperature tests and my temperature was higher than usual so I had to be brought here.
"They put me in this separate room and said 'you have to stay in here and not make contact with anyone else'. I've been treated fine, they've been very nice and the food's very good."
His mother Jackie, in London, said she was relieved that Matthew was on the road to recovery.
"We were obviously quite worried when we first heard, and it was about 24 hours before we could speak to Matthew. But once I spoke to him it put my mind at rest that he was being treated well."
Matthew had been in good health before he left for China, she said. "He's always been very healthy."
