Peter Harvey, 49, of Rannoch Drive, Mansfield, is accused of attacking Jack Waterhouse at All Saints' Roman Catholic School in Mansfield on 8 July. Mr Harvey, who is currently in custody, is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court later. Mr Harvey, who did not enter a plea, remains in custody after his barrister declined to make a bail application.
The science teacher is due to reappear at Nottingham Crown Court in the last week of September for a plea hearing.
