Version 0 of 1.

A 37-year-old man has been remanded in custody at Londonderry Magistrates Court charged with assaulting two female traffic attendants in the city.

Justin McCabe, 37, from St Columb's Wells was described in court as "a street drinker."

He is alleged to have assaulted the women in Shipquay Street on Saturday. Mr McCabe is also charged with resisting two police officers.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court on 15 August.

A police officer told the court it was a random assault by the defendant who slapped both traffic wardens on the back before pushing them.

The officers said CS spray was used to restrain the defendant.

A defence solicitor said his client rejected the allegations but admitted being involved in a bit of horseplay which got out of hand.
