Another soldier from the Light Dragoons was killed in Helmand last week.
Trooper Phillip Lawrence, from Birkenhead, died while on patrol in Lashkar Gah on 27 July. Warrant Officer Class 2 Sean Upton, from the Royal Artillery, 5th Regiment, died in a separate explosion on the same day.
July saw more casualties than any other month for UK forces in Afghanistan, with 22 service personnel killed.
Troops are currently involved in the second stage of Operation Panther's Claw, which the MoD says is focused on holding ground won from the Taliban in recent weeks.
