Version 0 of 1.

More than a thousand people lined up in New York on Tuesday in the hope of winning a walk-on part in the Sex and the City movie sequel.

Some hopefuls - including 19-year-old dancer Amanda Rivera - began queuing for the open casting call in the early hours of the morning.

"I am going for the celebrity look," she told the Reuters news agency.

Casting agents had said they were looking for "fashion models, celebrity types" and "upscale socialites"

Other categories sought included "urban club-goers", "gays and lesbians", "international types" and "professional soccer players".

Worldwide success

Shooting is set to begin shortly on the film, which will be released in May 2010.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall will all reprise the roles they first created in the popular HBO sitcom.

Last month, model Katie Price revealed she had auditioned for a part in the film as "an English nanny with big boobs".

Actress Kate Holmes has also been linked to the movie in newspaper reports.

Released in May 2008, the first Sex and the City film made more than $415m (£245m) worldwide.
