Man in court over Defoe killing

A man accused of murdering the half-brother of England striker Jermaine Defoe has appeared at the Old Bailey.

Jade Defoe suffered head injuries during the attack in Leytonstone, on 20 April. The 26-year-old died in hospital several days later.

Christopher Farley from Kingswood Road, Leytonstone, allegedly punched Mr Defoe, causing his death.

The 33-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to reappear before the Old Bailey on 1 September.
