A gunman who fired shots at police close to a main London railway station remains on the run. Police have released more details about a gunman on the run after firing at officers near Southwark tube station.
One officer was left injured during the incident close to Waterloo station on Wednesday afternoon. A spokesman said police officers approached the man because they believed him to be a 21-year-old wanted for an assault and aggravated burglary.
Armed officers were called to The Cut, between Waterloo East and Southwark stations, shortly after 1500 BST. The incident happened in The Cut, in Southwark, South London, just after 1500 BST on Wednesday.
They asked the gunman, who was on a bicycle, to stop, but he cycled away from them before abandoning the bike, Acting Ch Insp Malcolm Noone said. One officer sustained a minor leg injury, although it may not have been caused by a bullet.
A police spokesman said they would be carrying out forensic tests on the bicycle if they thought it would give a clue to the man's identity. The second officer was treated for shock. Both were taken to hospital.
Two officers gave chase but were fired at more than once, after the man dumped his bicycle in the Hatfields area and ran onto Blackfriars Road. They had told the bicycle-riding gunman to stop, but he pedalled away from them before abandoning the bike.

Jill Cartwright, 35, a yoga teacher from Putney, south-west London, was with friends at the Thai Silk restaurant in Isabella Street when the gunman came past, followed by two officers.
She said: "We saw the man run past followed by two policemen and we were laughing at it, singing the theme to The Bill.
"He didn't even look to be running very fast, but then he turned around and he fired.
"It didn't sound like a real gun, it sounded something like a starter gun, but it shocked us."
Daniel Bradley, 26, an editor from Surrey Quays, south-east London, also witnessed the incident.
He said: "One of the cops said 'Shots fired, shots fired'. He was on the radio.
