Officer suspended over rape claim

The victim claimed she was sexually assaulted on Wednesday, between 1800 BST and 2000 BST, at an address in the Islington area. The officer, who is being questioned in a central London police station, was arrested on Thursday morning. The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards are investigating the claim. The officer has been suspended pending further inquiries. Earlier a spokesman for the force said: "We can confirm that Westminster detectives are investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault. "The incident is alleged to have taken place on Wednesday 5 August in the Islington area." |
