Version 0 of 1.

A former mayoral advisor who resigned weeks into the job has been ordered to repay £2,100 in council expenses.

Bexley Council said Ian Clement must repay the cash he was paid while, as its council leader, he attended a course in the US.

He was paid £1,270 for overnight allowances even though the council had already paid for his accommodation.

He quit as London's deputy mayor for external relations after admitting an error in his corporate credit card use.

Mr Clement served as leader of Bexley Council from May 2006 until May 2008, when he took up his post at City Hall.

The council's audit committee found there was "insufficient evidence of fraud to pursue a criminal prosecution under the Fraud Act 2006".
