Version 0 of 1.

A dentist who practised in Greyabbey and Newtownards has been struck off after being found guilty of serious professional misconduct.

George Samuel Bruce Kelso had been suspended last year after a General Dental Council investigation.

It was alleged he failed to take proper medical histories from patients and had not adequately treated some patients, especially in cases of root canal work.

Mr Kelso, a dentist for more than 20 years, has 28 days to appeal.

Mr Kelso's address was given as Menton in the south of France, but he also has an address in Kircubbin, County Down.

He did not attend Wednesday's hearing and the committee heard information about the state of his health.

In deliberating, General Dental Council committee members had considered suspending Mr Kelso's registration.

However, they decided he should be struck off the register of dentists, in order to protect the public.

The General Dental Council regulates the dental profession in the UK.
