Two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, have been charged with attempted murder. Two teenagers have appeared at Downpatrick Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.
They are expected to appear at Downpatrick court later on Monday. The 16-year-old youth has also been charged with theft. They were Michael Joseph Topping, 18, from Greer Park Heights and a 16-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons.
The charges relate to an assault on a 17-year-old boy at Primrose Hill, off the Saintfield Road, Belfast, early on Saturday morning. They were charged with the attempted murder of a 17-year-old boy at Saintfield Road, Belfast, on Saturday. They were remanded in custody to appear by video link at Castlereagh Court on 23 February.
Three other youths have been released without charge. The injured youth is in a serious condition in hospital. A detective sergeant told the court on Monday that she could connect the two accused with the charge.
In court, the two teenagers spoke once to reply "yes" when asked if they understood the charges.
