A man has been arrested after the small van he was driving overturned into a river, killing one of the passengers. | |
The victim, a 21-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene at the junction of Ewenny Road and Bridgend Road in Maesteg, Bridgend. | |
Another passenger, a woman, 33, was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries after the incident at 0212 BST on Sunday. | |
Police said the 21-year-old male driver is in custody. | |
Officers said the white Volkswagen Caddy van, which was travelling from the direction of Maesteg town centre, left the carriageway and fell into the River Llynfi. | |
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to try to help free a man who was trapped in the vehicle. | |
