A motorcyclist has denied travelling at what is thought to be the fastest speed ever recorded on a Scottish road. Neil Purves, 27, of Cockburnspath, in Berwickshire, was charged with reaching 166mph on a 60mph road in the Scottish Borders in May. The offence is alleged to have happened on the Dolphinton Straight of the A702 in the region. Mr Purves denied the charge at Peebles Sheriff Court and is due to stand trial in October this year. |
