Almost 800 music fans have been treated by medical staff at the V Festival in Staffordshire this weekend.

Gates opened at Weston Park, on the border with Shropshire, on Friday morning ahead of the two-day festival.

West Midlands Ambulance service said 778 people had been treated mostly for minor injuries.

Sixteen of those were taken to hospital for injuries which included a fractured arm, facial injuries and existing medical conditions.

"Cases have mostly been falls resulting in strains, sprains, bruises and ankle injuries.

"The team of doctors, ambulance staff, nurses and volunteers have been working extremely hard to make sure most of the festival goers needing medical help miss as few of the acts as possible," an ambulance spokesperson said.

About 85,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which is being headlined by The Killers on Sunday.
