Three hurt in light plane crash | Three hurt in light plane crash |
(about 14 hours later) | |
Three people were hurt when a light aircraft crashed into a field and burst into flames close to Alderney airport.
A woman passenger was flown to Guernsey for treatment for a broken leg after the plane came down 30m (98ft) from a cliff at 1320 BST on Sunday.
The male pilot and another woman were treated at Alderney hospital for minor injuries and a second man in the Piper light aircraft from Jersey was unhurt.
The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is investigating.
Witnesses said the plane approached the runway very low, before banking steeply to the left.
The passengers were able to get out of the plane, which burned so badly it was nearly unrecognisable, apart from the engine and a wing.
Insp Tom Makins, of Guernsey Police, said: "We will take initial statements and someone from the AAIB will be coming over to Alderney." |
