Outstanding courage | |
Fusilier Bush's commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Charlie Calder said he showed "outstanding courage and dedication to duty", while attempting to save his platoon sergeant who had been hit by a home-made bomb. | |
"It is a great tragedy that despite the best efforts of everyone in the medical chain his injuries were just too great for him to recover," Lt Col Calder said. | |
"He is remembered as a true friend to many, a talented boxer and a rock solid soldier." | |
Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth paid tribute to Fusilier Bush, saying he was "clearly a hugely well liked and respected soldier in his battalion". | |
"His colleagues describe him as a dedicated soldier and he will be deeply missed by them, his friends and most of all by his family. My thoughts are with them at this most difficult of times," Mr Ainsworth added. | |
