Images of ruined Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness are to be captured by a camera mounted on a trike for Google Street View.

The search engine company designed the cycle for collecting images at historic landmarks and places not accessible by car.

It has previously been used at Stonehenge and the Eden Project.

Urquhart Castle, now owned by Historic Scotland, was once one of Scotland's largest castles.

Its 500-year history includes falling under English control following Edward I's invasion and being captured by Robert the Bruce in 1308.

It was ransacked during raids by the MacDonald, Lords of Isles in the 15th and 16th centuries.
