A blue and white forensic tent remains at the scene of the fatal stabbing - one of the busiest junctions in Northampton.
Floral tributes have already begun to pile up, propped against a war memorial and fluttering in the morning breeze.
There's a sense of shock here. One driver I spoke to was emotional as he referred to his own teenage son.
