'Tragedy' warning over car plunge | |

A Coastguard representative says an incident where a car fell into the water at Ardglass harbour could have resulted in a 'major tragedy'. | |
The red Skoda fell off the quayside in the early hours, it hit a trawler which was moored nearby before falling into the water. | |
Police say the male driver is thought to have left the scene. The car has now been removed from the harbour. | |
HM Coastguard's Gerry Burns said boat crews could have been "burned alive". | |
"Crew members are living on board these trawlers, they are from the Philippines, they are from Poland," he said. | |

"The boats are carrying several hundred gallons of diesel, so it could have been a major, major tragedy here last night." | |
