President Barack Obama has paid tribute to his "friend and mentor", Edward Kennedy, at the senator's funeral Mass in Boston. US Senator Edward Kennedy has been buried with military honours close to his assassinated brothers at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington.
Mr Obama said Senator Kennedy was the "greatest legislator of our time" and a "champion for those who had none". The ceremony followed a day of tributes to the patriarch of America's most famous political dynasty.
The body of Senator Kennedy, who died on Tuesday of brain cancer aged 77, has now arrived at the US Capitol in Washington for a brief prayer service. President Barack Obama, speaking at his funeral in Boston, called the senator the greatest legislator of his time.
