Version 0 of 1.

A driver killed at the wheel of a car in Sheffield had been shot twice, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

Safrajur Rahman Jahingir, 23, was discovered in a silver Vauxhall Corsa, which had crashed in the Parson Cross area of the city on Friday night.

South Yorkshire Police said three men, aged 28, 33 and 36, arrested in connection with the death were being questioned over his murder.

They have described the killing as a "planned assassination".

A spokesman said it was thought a handgun had been used in the shooting.

After being shot on Scraith Wood Drive, Mr Jahingir lost control of the car, drove across Herries Road, narrowly missed a bus and crashed into bushes at about 2245 BST.

The bus driver and a paramedic tried to help Mr Jahingir but his death was confirmed at the scene.

Gunshot wounds

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Jahingir, who was from the Darnall area of the city, died from two gunshot wounds to the body.

The shooting is not believed to be gang-related.

Det Supt Peter McGuinness, who is leading the murder investigation, said Mr Jahingir had been shot through the driver's window of his car.

"At this stage we are keeping an open mind about a motive," the officer said.

"Officers are conducting house to house inquiries and examining CCTV footage and we already have some good lines of inquiry we are following up."

Police are looking for a red hatchback car, possibly a Seat Leon, which was seen seconds after the shooting.

It travelled down Scraith Wood Drive and headed towards Wordsworth Avenue.

Police said the three men were arrested in raids at different locations across Sheffield.
