Eyewitness Gordon Murray, 62, who lives near the sealed-off house in Sutton, said he saw police cars "racing down" the road and armed police shouting.
"I thought it was an altercation or something. Then I saw the armed police," he said.
"They were shouting something to the homeowners. That was it."
He said officers later asked him if he had CCTV footage and when he looked back [at it] he saw a white car that passed the house twice.
"There was a white hatchback which came around and stopped outside, then about half an hour later he came back and lifted up the boot," he said.

At the scene
John Devine, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, in Sutton
Sutton is in east Cambridgeshire, between Ely and Chatteris, just off the A142.
It's very quiet here at The Row, just off the High Street, and there is a real feeling of shock.
It is a residential street but I've not seen any people around at all.
In front of me is the sight of blue police tape secured to a wheelie bin, running all the way around a fairly new semi-detached property at the end of the row.
I can see at least four police vehicles and two police officers at the front of the house and two floral tributes have already been left at the scene. The front of the home looks out onto a hedge and fields beyond.
