A man from Magherafelt has appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court charged with voyeurism over a two-year period.

Rodney Seffen, 38, from High Field Road, is also charged with recording a person in a private act and operating the equipment for sexual gratification.

District Judge Des Perry described Mr Seffen's excuse that the offences were part of his work as a graphic designer as "laughable".

The judge refused bail as he believed the defendant might reoffend.

A police officer told the court that Mr Seffen had installed a camera between the roof space in his home and focused it on the bedroom window of a teenage girl.

He also said that the defendant had admitted secretly filming people for up to five years. One of the victims was a 12-year-old girl, whose mother was also secretly filmed.
