Shopping trips reduce in August
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/8233600.stm Version 0 of 1. The number of shopping trips in August fell by 6.2% in Scotland, according to business services firm Experian. Its footfall index measures the number of people going in to shops and retail centres and compares the figures with the previous year. The latest index showed that every area of the UK recorded a drop in shoppers, with Scotland lagging well behind the UK average of a 4.1% fall. Experian said families were choosing days trips rather than shopping trips. The decline in the footfall index in August was the largest in the past seven months. Experian is expecting further unpredictability in September with increased petrol prices, which it says will impact on the level of retail activity to out-of-town destinations. |
