A-level pupil bailed after murder
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/wales/south_west/8238233.stm Version 0 of 1. An 18-year-old A-level student accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death hours after collecting her results has been granted conditional bail. Katherine McGrath is accused of murdering Alyn Thomas, 22, at her home in Brackla, Bridgend, on 21 August. A judge at Newport Crown Court granted bail following a psychiatric assessment of the teenager. She was bailed to an address in England and will be electronically tagged. She was banned from entering south Wales. As part of the bail conditions, the former Brynteg Comprehensive School pupil was ordered not to go into any pubs or clubs in south Wales and must not return to the area unless for pre-arranged meetings with her solicitor. A curfew was also imposed on her by the Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Nicholas Cooke QC. Ms McGrath's parents and brother attended the bail application hearing. The judge said it was unlikely her trial would be held before the end of the year due to the number of murder cases he has to deal with between now and Christmas. |
