Missing woman was trapped in car

A 33-year-old woman who was reported missing in Lancashire spent nearly 24 hours trapped in her overturned car before being found and cut free.

Police began looking for Kerrianne Timberlake, from Leyland, who was last seen leaving the Plough Lane pub in Grimsagh at about 1945 BST on Thursday.

Her convertible was spotted by a police helicopter down an embankment off the M6 near Bamber Bridge at 1730 BST.

She is being assessed at hospital after being cut free by firefighters.

Ms Timberlake is said to be conscious and is not believed to be seriously injured.

Officers were "concerned" for Ms Timberlake, who works at a hairdressers, because she had never gone missing before.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "It is believed that she had been trapped in her car, a silver convertible MG, since 8.30pm last night."
