Sudan: Deadline looms for extra UK rescue flight Sudan: 'Final' UK rescue flight due to leave

The UK is running an extra evacuation flight on Monday for British nationals still trapped in Sudan. An extra RAF evacuation flight for British nationals still trapped in Sudan is due to take off later.
Those eligible needed to reach to the coastal city of Port Sudan, 500 miles from capital Khartoum where previous planes took off, by 11:00 BST. Foreign NHS staff and their dependants with the right to live in Britain are also eligible for what is being billed as the last UK airlift from Sudan.
The UK has now airlifted 2,122 British passport holders, and NHS staff with UK work permits, on 23 flights. The UK has so far carried 2,122 people on 23 flights.
People needed to reach to the airport in coastal city Port Sudan, 500 miles from capital Khartoum where previous planes took off, by noon local time.
Officials at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) would not confirm what time the plane was due to take off, but flight tracking websites showed a Royal Air Force Airbus A400M Atlas plane landed at Port Sudan about four hours after the deadline passed.
Foreign Office minister Andrew Mitchell warned on Saturday that the UK "can't stay [in Sudan] forever" as the security situation continued to deteriorate.
