Police are trying to establish the circumstances of Mr Houston's death. Police said they were also investigating an attempted robbery.

Mr Houston was found on a pedestrian walkway in the Portugese resort.

It is understood police are investigating whether foul play was a factor in Mr Houston's death. Mr Houston had lived in Donegal and was president of Greencastle Golf Club.
