A 70-year-old man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault against children. A 70-year-old Belfast man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault against children.
He has also been charged with one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. Brendan Hull was also charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
It is understood the charges are in connection with alleged incidents in north Belfast last Friday. The assaults are alleged to have taken place in north Belfast last Friday, Belfast Magistrates Court was told.
The pensioner is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning. Mr Hull, of Ballynure Street, spoke to confirm he understood the charges. A detective constable said that he had denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault on a child and sexual activity of an adult towards a child. Mr Hull remained seated in the dock after his lawyer revealed he is suffering from poor health connected to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The charges relate to an incident in the Cromac Place area of south Belfast on Monday afternoon. She also disclosed that the accused admitted children had been at his house.
He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday. However, defence solicitor Brian Archer stressed his client had an innocent explanation for this.
No application for bail was made due to the perceived unsuitability of a proposed address.
Mr Hull was remanded in custody to appear again before the court next week.
